"IT'S THE FEELING ... EVERYTIME YOU ENTER THE ROOM"
©2010 Michael O'Neill Interiors
Situated high on a ridge in the Interlaken Park area of Capitol Hill this multilevel contemporary home has the wonderful feeling of a tree house.
My clients came wanting a kitchen remodel with new cabinetry and a few functional changes. However, when I asked the lady of the house what her wildest dream was for her kitchen it was to be able to enjoy her guests and not be stuck there away from the action.
Retired professionals with a big family and many friends, they love to entertain large groups. The problem? Although the living and dining areas were ample they were alienated from the kitchen and a small family room by a bearing wall.
Through clever engineering and a steel "I" beam we were able to open the wall and emancipate the cook! Parties are now a lot more fun for everyone! The family room became casual dining with dry bar, wine rack and added storage.
A strong, high contrast palette was used to compliment the owners collection of modern art works in primary colors.
